Owner / Operators

Stokes Trucking owner-operators are the cream of the crop.  They are safe, experienced, and committed.  In turn, we dispatch their trucks exactly like we do our company-owned equipment.  They run in our regular rotation of loads.  We never load “around” them.  Their trucks average the same pay as every other truck in our fleet.  To ensure this, we carefully track miles and revenue each month.  If we see an owner-operator truck that is out of the average, we work toward getting it back to where it needs to be.

We have owner-operators running on our plates and operating authority, and we have some who prefer to run their own plates and authority.  As long as the owner-operator meets our safety and service standards, either method is fine.  In either case, we guaranty payment for every load they haul for us.  For those operators running on our plates, insurance, and authority, we offer free use of our fuel/cash cards, with no transaction fees whatsoever.  This acts as a free cash advance to them for their fuel and road expenses until we settle with them for each load.  This makes a huge difference in the amount of up-front capital they need to operate.  We do not withhold any monies from our owner-operators.  There is no such thing as an escrow account here.  We screen our O-O’s so there is no reason for any withholdings.  We also provide a Qualcomm satellite-tracking device to our owner-operators at no cost.
